GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES                         

This is highly specialized technical and lead supervisory work in the operation of the general-purpose digital computer and its peripheral equipment.

Employees in this class serve as lead operators for the complete processing of job production runs on the computer system or operate the most complex and sophisticated computer equipment. Work involves preparing the computer system for operation and performing operations according to schedule and program instructions.  The most important aspect of the work is maximizing production while minimizing processing time through operator intervention in resolving computer halts.  Work may include instructing subordinate operators and trainees.  Employees are expected to use initiative and judgment in solving machine or production halts.  Employees are further responsible for assisting in maintaining work schedules by a technical supervisor. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Resolves operation halts by revising existing or devising new operating techniques;
  • Prepares data for a computer run while other jobs are being run;
  • Recommends improved service routines, production techniques and modifications or additions to equipment;
  • Observes and controls the course of jobs being run on the computer system;
  • Takes immediate action to correct any machine malfunction;
  • Assists in the orientation of operators in a lower classification;
  • Prepares job streams and job control cards;
  • Acts as operations supervisor when required;
  • Performs related work as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the operation and care of the digital computer and its peripheral equipment;
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems and preparation and use of job control cards;
  • Knowledge of peripheral operational methods and techniques;
  • Knowledge of programming principles and techniques;
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of the general-purpose digital computer and its peripheral equipment;
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in obtaining maximum utilization of computer equipment;
  • Ability to operate a digital computer and related data processing equipment;                                       
  • Ability to follow detailed program instructions;
  • Ability to instruct subordinate employees in the methods of operations to be followed in preparing data;
  • Ability to work effectively with programmers, subordinates, associates and others;
  • Ability to reason and think logically;
  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of subordinate employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of the twelfth grade and four years of experience in the operation of data processing machines, one of which must have been at the level of a Computer Operator or a related position.

DESCRIPTION

Work in this class involves unskilled miscellaneous tasks in the food service department of a school.  It involves the performance of a variety of tasks including some of a custodial or laboring nature, although primary emphasis is on food service activities. Work requires the maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation. Duties may be learned on the job without the need of prior experience. Work does not normally include responsibility for cooking, but for very simple food preparation, such as preparing salads and for caring for the kitchen, pantries, and dining room.  Work follows a set schedule and is performed under close supervision of a dietitian, food service supervisor or cook.

DUTIES  AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Assists cooks in washing, peeling and preparing fruits and vegetables, cleaning, dressing, and cutting up fish and meats;
  • Cuts, slices and butters bread, makes sandwiches, and assists in setting up trays and dishing out food;
  • Prepares cereals, toast, coffee, salads and other simple menu items;
  • Obtains meats and other refrigerated food items from cold storage, weigh and measure other food items to be used;
  • Sweeps and mop pantry, kitchen, dining room, and other floors as required;
  • Cleans tables, chairs, and floors in the dining room and kitchen; washes food utensils and dishes; and cleans equipment such as ranges, counters, and meat blocks;
  • Serves meals to school children;
  • Collects soiled dishes, utensils, and trays, and return them to the kitchen;
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL  AND ABILITIES

  • Some knowledge of the preparation and service of food as well as the use and care of dishes, and kitchen utensils.
  • Some knowledge of sanitary methods to be used in food preparation and related food service activities.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical computations, calculations and measurements.
  • Some knowledge of the preparation and service of food as well as the use and care of dishes, and kitchen utensils.

  • Ability to perform routine custodial duties and to do moderately heavy lifting and moving as required in large scale kitchen operation.

  • Ability to lift 70 (seventy) pounds or more.

EDUCATION  AND EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) year experience in preparing and serving foods
  • Possession of or ability to qualify for a food handler’s health certificate

DESCRIPTION

Accounting work of this class work involves routine accounting procedures, principles and

techniques. An employee in this class keeps records of accounts in a small administrative unit and is responsible for the preparation of accounting and fiscal reports, and the maintenance of less complex control accounts. Problems involving policy matters and significant irregularities are referred to a superior officer for advice or assistance. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures. Work skills are reviewed through periodic checks, on completion of assignments, and from progress reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Posts accounting data to general ledger accounts from subsidiary reports;
  • Makes trial balances in preparation for financial reports;
  • Reconciles accounts, records, reports and journals;
  • Creates forms, statements, audit reports and other records;
  • Maintains expenditure and budgetary control accounts and prepares necessary reports relating to account status;
  • Engages in posting and processing information for fiscal reports;
  • Exchanges non-routine information using tact, requiring good oral and written communication skills;
  • Other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the provision of the accounting manual of the Government of the Virgin Islands as they relate to recording and reporting of fiscal transaction;
  • Knowledge  of  generally  accepted  accounting  principles,  theories,  practices  and  their application to a wide variety of transaction involved governmental accounting;
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing software, computer applications related to the work, accounting software and willingness to learn and use accounting  and  financial reporting software;
  • Knowledge of procedures, modern office practices, and basic office management; business language and arithmetic;
  • Ability to apply and adapt established methods in accounting transactions;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, interpersonally and organizationally;
  • Ability  to  perform  detailed  work  involving  written  or  numerical  data,  and  to  make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately;
  • Ability to prepare complete accurate accounting reports and statements;
  • Ability to organize own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadlines;
  • Ability to supervise the work of a small group of employees engaged in bookkeeping or related office duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university; or
  • Semester credits in Business Administration to include 15 credits in accounting/ bookkeeping and four (4) years’ experience in the position of Bookkeeper III or equivalent.

  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Considerable knowledge of the equipment, utensils and materials used in preparing and serving large quantities of food;
  • Knowledge of the care and cleaning of kitchen equipment;
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of large-scale kitchen equipment;
  • Ability to direct the work of a  small groups of food service workers engaged in the preparation of food, cleaning kitchen and dining areas;
  • Ability to read write and comprehend written materials associated with the performance of the job;
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of the work;
  • Ability to work long hours while standing;
  • Skill in cooking a wide variety of foods;
  • Good physical condition sufficient to permit working long hours in the kitchen and the performance of moderately heaving (at least 70lbs) lifting;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•    Completion of the 12th Grade or GED

•    One (1) year experience in cooking foods

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES                         

The Community Outreach Manager works under the general supervision of the Director of Cultural Education. The position will promote and present the mission of the Division of Cultural Education through informational workshops, events and activities within our schools and community to ensure an increased public awareness of Cultural Education. The individual will provide research, administrative, and technical supports to the Director and the Division of Cultural Education to aid in the development of culturally focused programs and literature.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

  • Manage on-going administrative tasks, develop and execute meaningful mission-based programs.
  • Provide training and professional development for Cultural Education Staff, Educational Professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise division  staff and  volunteers as  required;
  • Coordinate programs across the territory to promote and present the Division of Cultural Education’s mission of increased Cultural Education and Community Outreach.
  • Network and build relationships with organizations and individuals of similar interests.
  • Complete ongoing reporting and utilize evaluation tools/surveys to track outcomes for all direct service activities.
  • Develop and implement digital marketing and social media recruitment strategies
  • Program development in partnership with various community organizations, schools, and  stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the development of specific reporting methods to better measure, monitor and evaluate program quality and activities;
  • Complete ongoing reporting and utilize evaluation tools/surveys to track outcomes for all direct service activities;
  • Seek opportunities for public and private community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel for the purpose of implementing annual events and  activities;
  • Assist  in the development of program and event budgets, and ensure that expenses are within budget limits;
  • Perform related work as requested and required;
