Jane E. Tuitt Primary students enjoyed a morning of reading fun when local grandparents stopped by to read to them during the school's first Grandparents' Reading Day on September 30.
The activity took place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in classrooms throughout the school. It was held to recognize National Grandparents Day, which was named by President Obama and announced on September 11, 2016. In remarks, President Obama said grandparents are the "backbone of our communities" and that "many of our children could not live out their dreams" without the contributions of grandparents.
Principal Thelca Bedminister was pleased with the success of the activity and looks forward to it becoming an annual event at the school.
