UPDATED OPENING OF SCHOOLS SCHEDULE FOR 2018-19 SY
ST. THOMAS, USVI –The Virgin Islands Department of Education announces that the Lew Muckle Elementary School in St. Croix will open for instruction on Monday, September 17, 2018. The Julius E. Sprauve School in St. John will also open on Wednesday, September 19.
Ongoing construction at school sites receiving temporary modular classrooms has further delayed the opening of the remainder of the Territory’s public schools.

ST. THOMAS, USVI – The Virgin Islands Department of Education has announced that public schools across the Territory will open on staggered schedules for the 2018-19 school year.
Fourteen schools in the St. Croix District and seven in the St. Thomas – St. John District will open on Tuesday, September 4, the date previously announced for the opening of all public schools. Ongoing construction at school sites receiving temporary modular classrooms has delayed the opening of the remainder of the Territory’s public schools.

Sprauve School; Addelita Cancryn Junior High School; Lockhart Elementary School; Charlotte Amalie High School and the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School.
In the St. Croix District, the Lew Muckle and Eulalie Rivera elementary schools are also projected to open on or before September 17. As construction progress is made, information on the opening of the Arthur A. Richards Junior High School will be released.
Faculty & Staff Reporting
Both the St. Thomas – St. John and St. Croix districts will release schedules for professional development and collaborative planning to teachers and support staff whose schools will not open on September 4. Employees are asked to monitor their VIDE email account and connect with their school administrators.
In the St. Croix District, kitchen staff from the three schools with delayed openings will assist the district’s School Food Authority’s satellite schools in preparing lunch beginning on September 4. Arthur A. Richards Junior High School kitchen staff is asked to report to the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School. Eulalie Rivera and Alexander Henderson’s kitchen staff should report to the St. Croix Educational Complex High School, and the Lew Muckle Elementary kitchen staff will report to the Ricardo Richards Elementary School.
