Results are in for Round 2 of the National Youth Cyber Patriot Program competition and St. Croix teams have advanced to the "At-Large" level. This means students will represent the territory among winners from all 50 states, Europe and other US territories during the next round of competitions scheduled for January 13-15, 2017.

St. Croix’s four CyberPatriot teams completed Round 2 of the online competition at the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) on Friday, December 9 and on Saturday, December 10.

The teams, comprising of students from the St. Croix Educational Complex, St. Croix Central High and St. Joseph’s High School, advanced to Round 2 after successfully competing in Round 1 of the Airforce Association cyberspace competition on November 14.  CTEC instructor Gregory Christian coaches three teams, the Platinum Coders, Tasmania Devils and the Terminators, while instructor Colleen Clarke coaches an all-girls team, the Island Defenders.

All rounds of competition in CyberPatriot, with the exception of the National Finals Competition, take place online. Teams may compete from any location.  Competitions take place on specified weekends throughout the school year. Teams must complete all their work during one (1) six consecutive-hour period on the Friday, Saturday, or Sunday of these competition windows.

Following this round, top scoring teams in the nation will earn an all-expenses paid trip to Baltimore, Md., for the National Finals, April 2 – 17, 2017.

Congratulations, students!
