Sunrise Rotary Club members Ms. Laborde and Mr. Etienne joins Jane E. Tuitt Principal Thelca Bedminister to distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to first graders.
For more than five years, the Sunrise Rotary Club of St. Thomas has donated school supplies to Jane E. Tuitt first graders. This year was no different.
On September 15, Rotarians Ms. Laborde and Mr. Etienne visited the elementary school and handed out 50 backpacks. Each were filled with reading books, pencils, an eraser and a sharpener. The club also sponsored a wall in the school dedicated to Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) principles. The Sunrise Rotary Club has been a big supporter of Jane E. Tuitt and has formally adopted the school.
In addition to the generous gift for students, the facilities have been upgraded. Thanks to a generous donation of tiles from MSI hardware store, the library floors were redone. Penny Feurzeig and Tom Brunt of MSI as well as the Department’s maintenance division spearheaded the project.
