Winners Announced In St. Croix School District STEM Fair 2016

EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE! Alfredo Andrews Elementary School Principal Joan Claxton stands proudly next to 5th grade student Jared Brown's “Popcorn Crazy” project at the St. Croix District STEM Fair, May 19-20. The project’s hypothesis, “Which popcorn brand yields the most?” was awarded “Excellence in Science” and took First Place in the Intermediate category at the school.

Community members came out to support public school students as they displayed their top school projects during the St. Croix District 2016 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Fair held at Sunshine Mall’s Upper Level, May 19 -20. The categories for judging were Kindergarten, Primary (grades 1-3), Intermediate (grades 4-6), Junior High (grades 7-8) and Senior High (grades 9-12). At an elaborate awards ceremony on Friday, May 20 winners in first, second and third places in each category received monetary prizes for their ambitious endeavors and hard work.

Ricardo Richards Elementary School’s “Tire Recycle and Reuse Facility” LEGO Project won Second Place at the St. Croix District STEM Fair May 19 – 20 at Sunshine Mall’s Upper Level. Team members are DeOndre Christopher, Amber Adams, and Anaizah Dennis. A PERSONAL BUCKET AIR CONDITIONER by Eulalie R. Rivera Elementary School 6th Grader Akyel Prince captured First Place in the Intermediate category at St. Croix’s STEM Fair held at Sunshine Mall’s Upper Level, May 19-20.

St. Croix Educational Complex physics students were awarded Excellence in Mathematics and Physics for their “CANSTRUCTION RUBIC’S CUBE” at St. Croix’s STEM Fair May 19-20. The physics students used 60 cases of assorted soda cans to form a gigantic rubik cube. Students, not in order are, Jordan Thomas, Nikkoya Cromwell, Barthelemy Peter, Elecyce Flemming, Cariece Browne, Leah Achille, Roshaun Titus, Natasha Sinanan, Darryle Cyrille and Tione Grant. The physics teacher Joanne Lewis.
