Mission Statement:

The St. Croix Adult Education Program is dedicated to the empowerment of adults advocating for themselves, their families, and their community through family literacy and workforce education in a non-traditional setting. 

1. GED: General Education Development. The Goal for the 2024-2026 school year is to offer a Saturday Literacy Camp that includes Mathematics, Reading and Digital Literacy. The objective of the program is to increase the GED success rate by 10% per semester. Students can take 2 classes once enrolled in this program.
2. Adult Basic Education (ABE): Adult Basic Education affords all students the opportunity to master basic skills that are necessary for day to day living. The goal of the ABE program is to transition the ABE students to be self-sufficient and to acquire additional education opportunities such as GED or High School Diploma. 
3. English Second to Other Languages (ESOL): The Goal for 2024-2026 school year is to increase the percent of all ESOL students earning a Measurable Skills Gain (MSG) by at least one level on the TABE CLAS-E test.
4. Adult Secondary Education (ASE): The Goal for the 2024-2026 school year is to increase the Adult Secondary Education graduates by at least 20%.

You are enrolling in a U.S Virgin Islands Department of Education, Office of Career Technical Adult Education program. Upon graduation, you will have earned a High School Diploma or GED. We also assist our adult learners with Adult Basic Education, Work Study, and ESL skills. While you are enrolled, you also have the opportunity to upskill to achieve more career opportunities.  You will learn from teachers who are passionate about the success of adult learners and create an environment that you will feel comfortable in taking academic risks when learning. Our record of success with many previous adult learners is commendable as we ensure that every student realizes success. The purpose of the St. Croix Adult Education Program is to assist adult learners in improving and refining their academic skills, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills as needed to receive a High School Diploma and GED. The program also assists adult learners in preparing for further education or employment and attaining the life skills needed to develop self-sufficiency.

The objectives of St. Croix Adult Education Program are:

• To evaluate adult learner needs upon enrollment and assist them in setting realistic goals and timelines for accomplishments.
• To periodically evaluate the academic progress of adult learners using appropriate assessment instruments approved by the St. Croix Adult Education Division of the U. S Virgin Islands Department of education.
• To provide various instructional and guidance services to assist adult learners meeting their educational and career goals.

Section 202 of the Adult Education and Family Literacy ACT's (AEFLA) program purpose is to:

• Assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills for employment and economic development self-sufficiency.
• Support the educational and skill achievement of parents and family members to participate in educational development of their children.
• Assist immigrants and English language learners in improving their English and Math proficiency and understanding the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
• Assist incarcerated individuals in strengthening their knowledge and skills to promote successful re-entry into society.

• 18 years or older and not enrolled in the regular public or non-public school system
• Proof of withdrawal may be requested
• Social Security card and valid identification card
• One (1) passport size photo (2x2)
• Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
