AP Dual Enrollment Policy

The VIDE has prepared a policy that clearly details the Valedictorian and Salutatorian Selection process, the grading scale for advanced classes to include Honors, Dual Enrollment, AP and Early Admission courses, class ranking system and the graduation exit plan. With this information readily accessible, VIDE students can be empowered to make informed decisions regarding their education.

Approved Inter Island Travel Policy 2022

This document establishes how travel should be arranged and approved, and the parameters that must be adhered to while conducting business connected with or pertaining to the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). All travel must be done in accordance with this Policy to qualify for reimbursement. It is VIDE’s policy to reimburse employees for ordinary, necessary, and reasonable expenses directly related to VIDE travel.

Cell Phone Use Policy

The VIDE seeks to maintain an environment that prioritizes student academics, privacy, and safety by minimizing students’ unsanctioned cell phone use on school grounds. By clearly outlining the ways in which cell phones can and cannot be utilized while on school grounds and in the classroom, faculty and staff will be better equipped to address misuse and repeated violations. Further, this policy informs students and parents of what constitutes misuse so students can make appropriate decisions throughout the school day. Regulating cell phone use through this policy will help to ensure students are focused, reduce the risk and exposure to cyberbullying, and further protect students’ privacy while on school grounds.

Recording of Disciplinary Hearings Policy

Sexual Abuse and Misconduct

Conduct by employees that is sexually inappropriate in the school setting or of a criminal nature will not be condoned by the Government of the Virgin Islands, Department of Education. Because of the fiduciary or trust relationship that is developed between the student and teacher or the student and school, it is imperative that the morals of the minors and their civil and constitutional rights to privacy be protected against unlawful invasion.
