How Cool is Coding!

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, second-graders at the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School on St. Croix were engaged in an introductory lesson in programming, using iPads and Scratch Jr., under the instruction of Sherline Louis, technology teacher. Scratch Jr. will be used to develop the computational thinking aptitude -- problem solving and critical thinking -- of second-graders at the school. Throughout the semester, students will develop knowledge and skills in decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithms. This initiative was made possible through a 2017 grant award from the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands.
