Week of the Young Child, celebrated April 10-16, 2016, is an annual celebration of the nation's youngest learners sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. In the St. Thomas-St. John District, students in pre-school-3rd grade enrolled in public, private and parochial schools came out for a day of fun on Friday, April 15 after enjoying a host of exciting activities at their individual schools throughout the week.
The culminating activity kicked off with a huge parade from Griffith Park to Addelita Cancryn Jr. High field. A sea of green could be seen for miles as students, teachers and staff from the Department of Education donned special t-shirts for the occassion. The happy crowd arrived at the field to meet a DJ, mascots, lots of fun games and activities, and food.
The event was coordinated by STTJ District Elementary Programs Coordinator Kalamis Maduro.
